You stole my photo!

Making my way to Subway sandwiches I passed on the way here (OK it’s not the only thing I eat but heck, I haven’t been around many things that remind me of home and I thought a bit of greens would do me good) I met another nice American! I’m starting to think that if I want to find some travel friends quickly, I just go to the nearest subway – this theory continues to hold true.

So of course we did the one thing you must do in a new location – explore! Off we went, to visit the Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur’s Space Needle. We took a tour of the space needle to photograph the city and then realized we pretty much did all that the city has to offer…

It was growing dark and we were still trying to figure what to do with the night as we grabbed some awesome Malaysian food nearby when we figured we would take a bit of a tour of our own. Making our way across town again, we felt it a good idea to visit the parks at night – although they were most likely closed at this time.

We had to cross a very busy freeway, routing around a huge post office complex, sneaking up a darkened street that leads to the parks and outrunning a group of adorable kittens that were determined to follow us. Once we got to the parks we did indeed find that they are closed, but no matter, a bit further on we found the one gate that was seemingly left open by accident. It was so inviting we could not resist. Circling around and around we toured the park at night, completely alone except for the horde of bats in the air. After a few hours we felt it time to begin the journey home. Upon discovery however, we had found we were locked in from all sides of the park! Nothing left to do but climb the fence, we did so, only to find later on that were were as well locked in from the path we originally came. No matter however, it was a simple yet treacherous trek through overgrown train tracks, climbing up walls to platforms, finally making out way back to the freeway and onward home. Being a lovely adventure, we had to finish it off with a few celebratory tequila shots and a romp around the local area for good measure.
