In friendship, power always has its downward curve. One’s strength to manage rises always higher until there comes a time one does not win, and though one may not really lose, still from time to time that victory is not sure, one’s power slowly ceases to be strong. It is only in a close tie such as marriage, that influence can mount and grow always stronger with the years and never meet with a decline. It can only happen so when there is no way to escape.
– Gertrude Stein, Three Lives
Friendship goes by favour. There is always danger of a break or of a stronger power coming in between. Influence can only be a steady march when one can surely never break away.
– Gertrude Stein, Three Lives
Except just in little moments, and not those very often, they never said anything about their feeling.
– Gertrude Stein, Three Lives
Romance is the ideal in one’s life and it is very lonely living with it lost.
– Gertrude Stein, Three Lives
It was not her being good, he wanted to find in her.

The question does not come before there is a quotation.
– Gertrude Stein, Tender Buttons
What is the wind, what is it.
– Gertrude Stein, Tender Buttons
This which was so kindly a present was constant.
– Gertrude Stein, Tender Buttons
A cool red rose and a pink cut pink, a collapse and a solid hole, a little less hot.

I hope you realize or understand me enough, that I try to focus on the positive side of life. Life is too short. This is a lesson I learned later in life. When I made the comment that you were the craziest chick I had ever met, I would consider that the greatest compliment that I could give. In my life time I have met or come in contact with at least 100,000 people. To be considered the craziest is quite an honor. I used to think that I was normal and everyone else is crazy. Through life lessons I have learned it is the other way around.
