Spot the Swastika

So much history here on this tour it is almost hard to recount all that we went through. The guide talked so fast and really gave a good history of Germany, how this young country did so much to/in the world. We walked through many parts of history here, including the first and last steps of the Nazis that many tourists will simply walk by without a further thought. We did however drink a beer, eat a bratwurst, see a guy wearing lederhosen, a woman wearing a dirndlgwand and experience historical parts of the city. What we experienced on the tour can be relived through the photos but in case you are wondering what exactly it all is I will give the following rundown: the Frauenkirche, the Glockenspiel, the Hofbrauhaus, Karlsplatz, Marienplatz, Maximilianstrasse, St. Michael’s, the National Theatre, Odeonsplatz, St. Peter’s, the Residence, Viktaulienmarkt, Beer Gardens, the Surf Wave, the English Garden, the Beer Hall Putsch and 854 years of Bavarian/German history as well as myths and legends of the Oktoberfest.

While viewing the pictures, I dare you to do one thing that I made a rather good point of shooting – can you spot the swastikas in the pictures?

Ice Cream and Caskets

Because you know they go together like bread and butter! I missed adding this to a post about Denmark, for that it where the picture was taken, so I thought I would add it now because it is too wonderful to miss out on!

Another day at another museum – this time it was Neue Pinakothek in Munich. More and more Monet, van Gogh, Cezanne, and Picasso. I have also been noticing that I have seen quite a bit of Millet as well – if this trip isn’t an up close and personal art history lesson, I can’t imagine what it really could in fact be!

Besides all this the World, Table and Paint pages have had updates to them.

“If you know Time as well as I do you wouldn’t talk about wasting it.”

“‘Be what you would seem to be’ – or, if you’d like it put more simply – ‘Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.’”

“Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”

Destination M

M – for Munich! Well, not really, but it just so happened to work out that way! What a crazy morning! I seem to always get flights in storms and today was no exception. Instead of just one flight, I had two through Germany, but I finally made it to Munich! Luckily my destination was just outside the train station this time, so I didn’t have to travel very far on foot. I think it would have been good to do a bit of research since the scripted ‘B’ in German is not really a ‘B’ at all… it stands for a double ‘S’ – which took me awhile and the help of a local to figure out! A nice elderly couple also pointed me in the right direction so I didn’t get caught in the rain for too long. It just so happened that both flights were delayed – allowing me to arrive to my connecting flight on time and to also finish a book and a half! Following this are some quotes I have already outlined to continue the Void flow. I also must add and admit that I thoroughly enjoy trains in all these countries, I simply love to look at all the graffiti in the area – and after viewing so much I can honestly say that Germany has by far the best and most creative!

“For, you see, so many out-of-the-way things had happened lately, that Alice had begun to think that very few things indeed were really impossible.”

“I wonder if I’ve been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I’m not the same, the next question is ‘Who in the world am I?’”

“I know something interesting is sure to happen.”

“I don’t much care where so long as I get somewhere.”
