Contribution for construction

Yesterday I visited the Picasso museum – no pictures were taken of course because none were allowed, but it was excellent to see even more art up close that I have only seen in photos. Making my way around the city today, I was tipped off earlier to go and visit Sagrada Familia – and what wonderful pictures were taken! It was a nice walk, discovering interesting things along the way – for example a protest, local architecture, and birds of all kinds. The main focus was the inside of the church of course, simply stunning! I am happy to say that I did indeed use my old student ID to contribute to the construction that seems to never end.

Destination N

After two flights through two storms (as usual) I have made it to Barcelona, Spain! I need to take note that when I say upon arriving to the hostel, “give me a moment, I have no idea where I am,” I should expect to be told, in all seriousness, exactly where I am. Apparently the joke does not go over well in other countries – as I do know where I am, it is simply that I am exhausted from the travel. I should plan to rephrase this for my next destination. In any case, I am here and getting settled, planning for a new week, in a brand new hostel, in a brand new city that I know nothing about. Here comes the fun part – the new discovery that immediately takes place.

During the flight, as usual, I have finished a new book and have new quotes to contribute to the Table project. This book seems to be coming along rather well!

“But isn’t genius a kind of crime against the routine of the past that our time punishes more severely than crime itself, since scholars die in hospitals bleaker than any prison?”

“But one moment of hesitation, and you are dead.”

“Have confidence, fear nothing, you are still in the midst of life, in history.”

“We are all rough drafts where the genius of one epoch is prelude to a masterpiece that it will probably never execute.”

– Marcel Proust, The Lemoine Affair

Surf München Eisbach

This morning I thought it would be nice to walk clear across town and snap some last images of Munich or München as they say in Germany. I headed toward the English Gardens with rain clouds overhead. Often the sky would open up above but luckily I was able to capture some photos before it did and hide under the umbrella Craig bought in Hawaii when it poured. I must protect the camera/baby somehow! The most exciting part of my journey was the Surf Wave or the Eisbach (German for “ice brook”) which is a man-made river that forms a standing wave about 1 meter high and is a popular river surfing spot. Here marks the end of Germany and the beginning of the next Destination as Void sets off for Spain tomorrow.
